About Me

The Magic of Massage Therapy

I was going through intense physical therapy to recover after surgery, and every day I went to bed with sore, achy muscles. Finally, my physical therapist suggest I give massage therapy a try. Massage therapy really helped me relax and unwind after a hard day at physical therapy, but I think it also helped speed my recovery. It helped with blood flow and circulation, and I really felt much better after every session. I liked it so much that I kept going even after I was fully recovered. I started this blog to talk about the magic of massage therapy. It really helped me, and I believe that it can really help others as well. If you’ve been wanting to learn what massage therapy is like and how it helps, you’ll find the answers here on my blog.

Midwives And Natural Labor Pain Relief Methods: Key Techniques

If are considering a natural childbirth, which is one that does not depend on lots of medical intervention, then pain relief is a crucial consideration. Many women do not want to depend on powerful drugs, such as epidurals, for pain relief during labor. Fortunately, you have an excellent alternative available, which is to engage the services of a qualified midwives. These professionals are trained in a variety of natural pain relief procedures. This article looks at some their most effective techniques.

Counter Pressure

This method relies on the midwife applying pressure to an area of the body that is producing discomfort. For some women going through labor, the small of the back is often uncomfortable or painful. The pelvis is another area where pain and discomfort are common. The midwife, or a caregiver under her supervision, will push against the painful areas with her hands, which has the effect of easing the discomfort in many cases.

Relaxation

Because the stress of labor may heighten the amount of pain you feel, it's important that your environment remains as peaceful and relaxing as possible. Your midwife can help you create a relaxing environment where you feel less stress and discomfort. For example, if you love the smell of a particular flower, the midwife may suggest having the room filled with those blossoms. Also, if you have a favorite piece of soothing music or love scented candles, these can be incorporated into the environment as well.

Vocal

Being vocal during labor is a great way to self-soothe and take your focus off any pain and distress you are experiencing. The midwife may recommend that you moan, or make some other sound, in sync with your contractions. Another possibility is to sing a favorite song to distract yourself from any discomfort.

Imagery

Using imagery is another interesting labor pain reduction method. The midwife will ask you to visualize a peaceful setting or other relaxing image. This technique relaxes your entire body and increases your comfort level. During the visualization, try to imaging the specific sight, sounds and smells of the images as vividly as possible.

Using strong medications to control labor pains is not for everyone. Some women want to have their child naturally and with as few medical intrusions as possible. If you would prefer to have a natural childbirth, but have concerns about pain management during labor, contact a trained midwife in your area.
