About Me

The Magic of Massage Therapy

I was going through intense physical therapy to recover after surgery, and every day I went to bed with sore, achy muscles. Finally, my physical therapist suggest I give massage therapy a try. Massage therapy really helped me relax and unwind after a hard day at physical therapy, but I think it also helped speed my recovery. It helped with blood flow and circulation, and I really felt much better after every session. I liked it so much that I kept going even after I was fully recovered. I started this blog to talk about the magic of massage therapy. It really helped me, and I believe that it can really help others as well. If you’ve been wanting to learn what massage therapy is like and how it helps, you’ll find the answers here on my blog.

No Crash Diets Here: Safe, Rapid Weight Loss To Get You Beach Ready For Your Winter Vacation

If you have planned a beach vacation to escape the harsh winter, and you don't have months and months to diet, but still want to lose some pounds to look good in your swimsuit, then you have options that don't involve crash dieting. There are safe and healthy rapid weight loss techniques that don't require you to starve yourself. Crash dieting can mess with your metabolism, and this can in turn make it actually harder to lose weight. Plus, you might even end up losing muscle instead of fat, which isn't what you want. The ideal rapid weight loss program is going to help you burn fat and preserve muscle. This will give you that lean, sexy look you want. Here's two things to consider.

High Fiber, Whole Foods, Mainly Plants: Lots Of Nutrients, Caloric Restrictive

The best way to drop the pounds is to be on a calorie-restricted diet. Exercise is great, but when you consider that an average 180 pound person burns only 100 calories while walking a mile (and a can of soda has around 140 calories), you can see how exercise is not the best way to achieve rapid weight loss. A better method is to go on a calorie-restricted diet. This involves reducing the amount of total calories you eat. The easiest way to do this is to essentially go vegan for a short time. Vegetables and fruit are loaded with fiber, which will fill you up, plus they have tons of healthy vitamins and nutrients, so you won't be malnourished. If you fill up a big salad bowl with spinach, kale, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, and zucchini…you will have trouble eating all of it. It's way more filling than a slice of pizza or a cheeseburger. You still will need some fats, but choose healthy fats like nuts and olive oil. But go easy on these fats. Even though they are healthy, they are calorie dense, so use them sparingly.

Make sure to drink only water, black coffee, or tea. While fruits are fine, fruit juice is to be avoided. It's too rich (from a calorie perspective). Instead of drinking a big glass of orange juice, squeeze a lemon into some water.

Or, Alternatively, A Keto Diet

So what about people who just can't stand vegetables? Well, there is a rapid weight loss program that is actually the antithesis of the vegan diet. It's known as a ketogenic diet. This diet relies on a fat- and protein-rich diet, with almost no carbs. You might eat steak, with some eggs, for breakfast, a chicken breast for lunch, and some tuna for dinner. You can add cheese into the mix as well.  You can have some carbs (usually around 50 grams), so you can add a small green salad to one of your meals to get some vitamins and fiber.

The idea behind the keto diet is that is helps your body burn fat. When you are taking in tons of carbs (bread, pasta, sugary drink, refined products) your body has lots of energy at all times. When you get rid of those carbs, the body has to burn fat for energy. Plus, you get lots of protein. This is essential for preserving your muscle while you drop weight. So, you end up losing fat and keeping muscle, which is better for your body composition.
