About Me

The Magic of Massage Therapy

I was going through intense physical therapy to recover after surgery, and every day I went to bed with sore, achy muscles. Finally, my physical therapist suggest I give massage therapy a try. Massage therapy really helped me relax and unwind after a hard day at physical therapy, but I think it also helped speed my recovery. It helped with blood flow and circulation, and I really felt much better after every session. I liked it so much that I kept going even after I was fully recovered. I started this blog to talk about the magic of massage therapy. It really helped me, and I believe that it can really help others as well. If you’ve been wanting to learn what massage therapy is like and how it helps, you’ll find the answers here on my blog.

3 Tips To Reduce Your Chances Of Getting Sick This Winter

Although winter has not officially arrived, the cold temperatures definitely have. Therefore, it is very important that you start taking precautionary measures to prevent yourself from getting sick so that you don't have to worry about missing out on work and school. You also don' want to have to end up in the hospital due to a basic winter illness like a cold or flu turning into severe bronchitis or pneumonia. There are some very simple steps that you can take to help you reduce the risk of you and your family from getting sick this winter, such as:

1. Wash Your Hands Frequently

To avoid harmful germs, you must make sure that you are washing your hands as often as possible throughout the day – and make sure you scrub with soap for 20 seconds to ensure you are removing all the germs.

Now, you will want to wash your hands after each trip to the restroom, but you will also want to wash them each time you handle something that a large number of people handle. In the office, this includes anything in the break room, the copy machine, elevator buttons, door handles, etc. If you aren't near a restroom where you can wash your hands, make sure you have hand sanitizer handy.

2. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

The better health that you are in, the more likely you can avoid getting sick. Then, if you do get sick, you have a better chance of a faster recovery if you are in good health. To lead a healthy lifestyle, you need to make sure that you are eating right, getting plenty of exercising and getting an adequate amount of rest each night. This will help your body fight germs and infections that could lead to a cold, flu or other illnesses throughout the winter season.

3. Get the Flu Shot

Most people don't like the sound of a shot, but getting vaccinated can help prevent you from getting the flu and reduce the risk of you needing to be hospitalized due to a flu-related illness. It is recommended that all individuals who at least six months old get some type of flu vaccine every year.

The aforementioned three tips can drastically reduce your chances of getting sick with a winter-related illness. If you have any questions or would like to get a flu shot, contact your primary care provider for more information and to schedule an appointment.
