About Me

The Magic of Massage Therapy

I was going through intense physical therapy to recover after surgery, and every day I went to bed with sore, achy muscles. Finally, my physical therapist suggest I give massage therapy a try. Massage therapy really helped me relax and unwind after a hard day at physical therapy, but I think it also helped speed my recovery. It helped with blood flow and circulation, and I really felt much better after every session. I liked it so much that I kept going even after I was fully recovered. I started this blog to talk about the magic of massage therapy. It really helped me, and I believe that it can really help others as well. If you’ve been wanting to learn what massage therapy is like and how it helps, you’ll find the answers here on my blog.

Do You Have Acne Scars? How A Medical Spa Can Help

How can a medical spa help you to reduce the appearance of acne scars? Nearly 85 percent of teens and young adults ages 12 through 24 have some form of acne, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). While acne can resolve and leave behind smooth skin, it can also cause pits or raised areas. Take a look at what you need to know about these scars and medical spa services.

What Are Acne Scars?

Before you choose one medical spa treatment over another, you may need to learn more about acne scars. These permanent marks on or in the skin don't affect every person who has acne. This means it's possible for you to have acne and never have scarring. People who have inflammatory cystic acne, nodules, delay treatment, pick or squeeze pimples, or have a family history of acne scars are more likely to develop this dermatologic issue.

There are two primary types of acne scars—depressed or atrophic scars and keloid or hypertrophic scars. Atrophic scars are pitted (under the skin's surface level) and include ice pick, rolling, and boxcar scarring. Hypertrophic scars develop when fibrous tissue grows on top of the skin. This causes raised bumps.

Which Medical Spa Services Can Help Acne Scars?

The top medical spa treatment options for acne scarring include chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing, microneedling (or PRP microneedling), and dermal filler injectables. The service you choose depends on the type of scar, the severity of the scar, the amount of scarring you have, and your overall health/ability to heal.

Treatments such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion remove the top layers of skin. These options can help hypertrophic scarring. Chemical peels can also fade scar-related dislocation.

Laser skin resurfacing and microneedling can stimulate collagen production and may improve the look of atrophic scars. Likewise, dermal fillers can help to smooth indentations from atrophic scars. Dermal filler injectables add fullness to the face and add volume to indented areas.

Why Should You Visit A Medi Spa For Acne Scar Treatment?

Even though medical spa treatments aren't surgical interventions, these services do require the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. Minimally-invasive acne scar treatments such as microneedling, laser skin resurfacing, dermal filler injections, and other similar services are not procedures you should get at a day spa or salon. Without the right medical knowledge, training, and experience, a provider could put you at risk for additional scarring or other lasting side effects.
