About Me

The Magic of Massage Therapy

I was going through intense physical therapy to recover after surgery, and every day I went to bed with sore, achy muscles. Finally, my physical therapist suggest I give massage therapy a try. Massage therapy really helped me relax and unwind after a hard day at physical therapy, but I think it also helped speed my recovery. It helped with blood flow and circulation, and I really felt much better after every session. I liked it so much that I kept going even after I was fully recovered. I started this blog to talk about the magic of massage therapy. It really helped me, and I believe that it can really help others as well. If you’ve been wanting to learn what massage therapy is like and how it helps, you’ll find the answers here on my blog.

5 Things To Do After Getting Botox Injections

Have you decided that you want to get Botox to smooth out the wrinkles on your face, and have read all about the procedure? If so, you'll definitely want to know what the recovery process will be like as well. Here are a few things that you need to do to ensure a smooth recovery.

Avoid Any Stressful Activities On The Body

It's a good idea to just relax for the first day after getting Botox, as you should not be doing anything that puts stress on your body. What you want to avoid is having an unnecessary increase in blood flow after the procedure, which can cause a potential complication in the areas where the Botox was injected.

Avoid Blood Thinners And Alcohol

Want to relax by having alcohol? Know that this is not a good idea, because alcohol can thin your blood and cause unintended issues with blood flow. The same can also be said for blood thinners, such as some pain medications, that can cause blood flow to increase. Be mindful of what medications you are taking that can increase blood flow, and consult with your doctor about what you should do about those medicines during the first day of recovery.

Avoid Exposure To Heat

Another thing to avoid is taking a hot shower, which is due to how the hot water can cause blood flow to increase to the areas where Botox was injected. Just give yourself a day to avoid any hot situations, which include being out in the hot sun or going to the sauna. While it may seem like a great way to relax, it is not going to be good for your recently injected Botox.

Do Not Touch Or Massage The Area

As tempting as it may be to massage or touch the part of your body that received Botox, you should avoid touching it completely. One of the possible complications of touching the area is that the Botox can move to a new area that was unintended. For example, if you had Botox injected into your eyebrows, you do not want it to travel down to your eyelids. This could cause you to have droopy eyelids.

Keep Your Skin Clean

It's crucial that you keep your skin clean for that first day. Even though you shouldn't be showering, you'll want to avoid wearing makeup that can come in contact with the injection site. Give your skincare routine a rest as well, because you do not know what complications they can cause.
